Sandusky Claims Innocence

Driving to work this morning while listening to a local sports radio talk show on the radio 1050 ESPN, they played a sound bite
of Bob Costas interview with Jerry Sandusky. What bothers me about what I heard was Jerry Sandusky sounds like he doesn’t
even know that there is something odd about being in the shower with young boys.

Below is the transcript from Bob Costas’ interview with Jerry Sandusky on NBC’s “Rock Center.”

BOB COSTAS: Mr. Sandusky, there’s a 40-count indictment. The grand jury report contains specific detail. There are multiple accusers, multiple eyewitnesses to various aspects of the abuse. A reasonable person says where there’s this much smoke, there must be plenty of fire. What do you say?

JERRY SANDUSKY: I say that I am innocent of those charges.

COSTAS: Innocent? Completely innocent and falsely accused in every aspect?

SANDUSKY: Well I could say that, you know, I have done some of those things. I have horsed around with kids. I have showered after workouts. I have hugged them and I have touched their leg. Without intent of sexual contact. But – so if you look at it that way – there are things that wouldn’t – you know, would be accurate.

COSTAS: Are you denying that you had any inappropriate sexual contact with any of these underage boys?

SANDUSKY: Yes, I– yes I am.

COSTAS: Never touched their genitals? Never engaged in oral sex?

SANDUSKY: Right.

COSTAS: What about Mike McQueary, the grad assistant who in 2002 walked into the shower where he says in specific detail that you were forcibly raping a boy who appeared to be ten or 11 years old? That his hands were up against the shower wall and he heard rhythmic slap, slap, slapping sounds and he described that as a rape?

SANDUSKY: I would say that that’s false.

COSTAS: What would be his motive to lie?

SANDUSKY: You’d have to ask him that.

COSTAS: What did happen in the shower the night that Mike McQueary happened upon you and the young boy?

SANDUSKY: Okay, we– we were showing and– and horsing around. And he actually turned all the showers on and was– actually sliding– across the– the floor. And we were– as I recall possibly like snapping a towel, horseplay.

COSTAS: In 1998, a mother confronts you about taking a shower with her son and inappropriately touching him. Two detectives eavesdrop on a conversation with you, and you admit that maybe your private parts touched her son. What happened there?

SANDUSKY: I can’t exactly recall what was said there. In terms of– what I did say was that if he felt that way, then I was wrong,

COSTAS: During one of those conversations, you said, “I understand, I was wrong, I wish I could get forgiveness,” speaking now with the mother. “I know I won’t get it from you. I wish I were dead.” A guy falsely accused or a guy whose actions have been misinterpreted doesn’t respond that way, does he?

SANDUSKY: I don’t know. I didn’t say, to my recollection that I wish I were dead. I was hopeful that we could reconcile things.

COSTAS: Shortly after that in 2000, a janitor said that he saw you performing oral sex on a young boy in the showers– in the Penn State locker facility. Did that happen?

SANDUSKY: No.

COSTAS: How could somebody think they saw something as extreme and shocking as that when it hadn’t occurred, and what would possibly be their motivation to fabricate it?

SANDUSKY: You’d have to ask them.

COSTAS: It seems that if all of these accusations are false, you are the unluckiest and most persecuted man that any of us has ever heard about.

SANDUSKY: (LAUGHS) I don’t know what you want me to say. I don’t think that these have been the best days of my life.

Transcript from Newsday.com.

So what do you think? Guilty or Not?

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) – A police officer is suing a New Jersey delicatessen and its cook, who admitted stuffing body hair into the officer’s bagel sandwich in revenge for a traffic arrest.

The lawsuit filed by Patrolman Jeremy Merck of the Evesham, New Jersey, Police Department seeks unspecified damages from Good Foods to Go in Marlton, New Jersey, and its cook, Ryan Burke, for an incident that occurred in February 2010.

Merck ordered an egg, cheese and turkey bagel and after eating part of it, he found it “was adulterated with pubic, chest or other human hair,” the lawsuit said.

Merck sought medical help and was checked for communicable diseases at a hospital, his attorney, Bruce Zamost, said on Friday. None was detected.

Burke, who served Merck the sandwich, was later charged with aggravated assault, retaliation against a public servant and food tampering. He ultimately served 15 days in jail.

According to a police report from the criminal case, “Burke admitted to tearing out hairs from his chest and his pubic area and placing them on Ptl. Merck’s sandwich out of anger due to the fines and lawyers fees he had from the prior arrest in 2009.”

In 2009, Merck charged Burke with traffic offenses. Burke later complained the traffic case cost him $4,400.

“Burke admitted that he did not like Ptl. Merck as a result of that incident and expressed that he shouldn’t have to see Ptl. Merck at Good Foods to Go,” the police report continued.

A woman who answered the phone at the headquarters of the restaurant chain declined to comment on reports Burke was fired after the sandwich incident. The restaurant’s lawyer, Mark Sander, could not be reached for comment on Friday.

Zamost said no trial date has been set for the civil case but it would likely begin next year.

I saw this toilet from Kohler on the web. I couldn’t help to write something about it because I really find it amusing that toilets can be this expensive. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of this years the Hi tech giants such as Microsoft, Apple, and Android would start making toilets too.

The Price of this Toilet from Kohler will cost you around $6,400.

Here are the things that this toilet can do that other toilets can’t.

1) The Numi comes with a ‘sleek, interactive LCD touch-screen interface’ as well as a ‘built-in personalised bidet functionality and deodoriser’.

2) It features innovative dual-flush technology, unmatched comfort features and an intuitive auto opening and closing lid.

3) The toilet’s motion-activated seat is heated. Your feet will be kept nice and warm too, by the toilet’s vents that gently blow hot air on them.

4) It also comes with speakers equipped with MP3 input sockets. You won’t even need to go to the trouble of choosing your own music though, because the toilet will also play pre-programmed music or radio broadcasts.

It sounds like number 4 is starting to push the envelope. Next thing you know wi-fi would be one of the options, and we’ll be talking about what operating system this toilet will use.

Well as it turns out this price didn’t put the Numi as the “most expensive toilet” there’s this toilet from Japan worth $37,000,000. That title goes to a toilet made by Hang Fung Gold Technology in Japan, which is made of solid 24-carat gold.

Over 40,000 years ago this part of Bolivia was a prehistoric lake. Today, the area is home to a smattering of flamingos, some tourist hotels (including a salt hotel) and and an estimated 10 billion tons of salt. Just imagine getting lost in this surrealistic environment!

Didn’t anyone ever tell you that salt mines, shallow lakes and deep-earth drills shouldn’t mix? What started as a seemingly minor miscalculation resulted in a billion-gallon flood, unbelievable property damage and the upheaval of an entire ecosystem. Amazingly, this catastrophe cost no lives though it remains one of history’s most devastating engineering disasters.

On a fateful day in 1980 a group of oil drillers were working in a shallow lake in Louisiana probing for oil. A miscalculation sent their drill straight into a large salt mine shaft below the lake’s surface. The hole started at just over a foot in diameter but rapidly widened as the water from the lake above washed away the salt around it. What started out quite simply ended in disaster that no one could have predicted.

Workers above on the oil platform recognized something was wrong and ‘jumped ship’ before the entire platform disappeared below their feet in a growing whirlpool – all in what was supposed to be a shallow lake! Meanwhile, in the salt mines below, workers made their way through flooded tunnels and all managed to (in some cases narrowly) make it out alive. Despite all of the chaos, no one died above or below ground.

Before it was through, the surface whirlpool managed to suck down islands, barge docks, barges, trees, trucks, an entire parking lock and 3.5 billion gallons of water. The flow of water normally leading from the lake into Vermilion Bay was reversed as the lake refilled itself, and also created the largest waterfall in Louisiana history (over 150 feet) as water poured back into the lake. In the process, what started as a ten-foot-deep freshwater lake became a thousand-foot-deep saltwater lake!

Ludwigshafen, Germany – If there weren’t pictures to prove it, people might have a hard time believing a loving father threw his child multiple stories to waiting rescuers below. This dangerous gamble was taken against an almost certain death in a smoke-filled burning building where, in the end, nine other people perished. The baby, however, survived. Rescuers managed to catch and save the baby from below.

The wreckage is still too unsafe to check for further survivors, police say, and the cause of the fire has yet to be revealed. The building had over 50 residents and more than half either died or were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Many of those who did escape were force to follow the infant’s lead and leap from windows as staircase escape routes were choked with flames and smoke.

The damage could have been far worse had rescue workers not been nearby at a celebration. Multiple rescue workers were also hurt while trying to rescue people from the building and put out the fire though none sustained serious injuries.

Well, it had to happen eventually: the seemingly mighty Church of Scientology finally upset the wrong people and those people have responded in force. Here’s a breakdown of the latest news in the war between Scientology and hackers:

A hacking group calling itself “Anonymous” has posted a chilling video on the internet, announcing that it plans to “dismantle” the Church of Scientology.

Wired.com reports that Anonymous has flooded Scientology servers with a distributed denial of service attack, is choking the Church’s phone lines with prank calls and sending looped faxes of solid black pages.

“Over the years, we have been watching you — your campaigns, your suppression of dissent, your litigious nature. All of these things have caught our eye,” a synthesized voice on the video tells “leaders of Scientology”.-= Anonymous

And from Gawker Media:

Tom Cruise has personally, PERSONALLY, been pwned. This weekend, an anonymous Internet group (named Anonymous

Despite the protests of animal rights groups Austria’s Supreme Court ruled that, in fact, a chimpanzee cannot be legally considered a person. In a play to ‘give’ the chimp known as Matthew Hiasl Pan monetary gifts of support said groups attempted to have him declared a person.

This chimp and others have been living in a shelter since being released from medical experimentation. Being granted rights as a person would have allowed Matthew to accept donations and thus have a funded life outside of his shelter.

The court’s decision is similar to one made last fall in which a judge dismissed the case, ruling the Association Against Animal Factories has no legal grounds for advocating for the chimp in question. The group attempted to file on behalf of the chimp for bankruptcy protection.
