Well.. that may be because LA operates the biggest water treatment plant.  They are able to turn waste water into drinking water in 45 mins.  This was also the subject of one of the episodes of dirty jobs.

I mean, it&#039;s probably used everywhere, but it&#039;s a little unnerving to watch the episode of Dirty Jobs and seeing poo floating on top of the water going into a pipe and miles and miles later, they open a tap and drink the water.
